The election of directors for Scottish Rural Action takes place this year at our Annual General Meeting on the 16th November in Stranraer as part of the Scottish Rural Parliament. The election process for directors is different this year, and candidates for the election need to submit a short application by the 12th October. Directors are looking for specific skills and keen to check the suitability of candidates, including references, before they are put forward to the membership for approval or election. Candidates for election must also be nominated by a member of Scottish Rural Action; please contact us for a discussion about this if it is a barrier to your election.
Directors of SRA are elected every two years – a change to our process that was agreed at the last AGM in October 2017 – and serve a maximum of six years. Directors have to stand down by rotation and this year the directors are recruiting to eight positions on the board of SRA. An election is only triggered if there are more candidates than positions. You can become a member of SRA at the same time as applying for a position as a director.
