I have been to the Isle of Eigg once, soon to be twice come the Easter break. The sense of community that has been created on the island is inspiring. For those that have not heard of the Eigg story, the islanders bought the island 20 years ago that gave them community ownership. One of the things that is visibly noticeable is the wind turbines. The use of wind and water powers the island and the community is responsible for that – even managing a lot of the engineering requirements to save on a call-out from the mainland. This video clip from the University of Glasgow gives an insight in to how it all works – with the student in question learning about Eigg to share his learning with his homeland of India! https://www.gla.ac.uk/study/studentlife/worldchangers/somesh/
