Local Place Planning can be a powerful tool for rural communities to identify priorities, influence development, and build local resilience. But the process can often feel overwhelming—especially when volunteer capacity is limited, and communities face a wide range of complex challenges.
This online workshop is designed to demystify the Local Place Plan (LPP) process, with a clear focus on rural and island contexts.
Chiara Fingland (Imagine If) and Paul Ede (Place at the Table) will share their practical insights, drawn from real-life experience of working with communities on Local Place Plans. They will give useful tips on getting started, navigating the policy landscape, accessing funding, and embedding community resilience into the plan.
We’ll cover:
- What is a Local Place Plan and why it matters
- How to deliver a Local Place Plan in a rural setting
- Integrating emergency planning and resilience thinking
- Funding opportunities and how planning can unlock them
We will also hear from community leaders who have been hands-on in the LPP process, offering peer-to-peer learning and reflections.
💬 There will be time for Q&A, so bring your questions!
🕑 The workshop will be followed by SRA's Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2025 from 14:00–14:30.
This event is designed for those who are just getting started or already deep in the process, leaving you better informed, more confident, and inspired to take the next step. Sign up via Eventbrite.
