Martin McManus has been appointed to the role of Brexit Project Manager within SRA and over the coming months will engage with rural communities on the implications of Brexit for them and the activities they are involved in.
Recognising that there is little opportunity to influence the ‘Brexit deal’ Martin’s work will focus on influencing rural policy post-Brexit when there is a likely reshaping of the funding and policy landscape which the EU currently sets, and which has a disproportionate impact on rural areas.
He is keen to hear your thoughts on the implications of Brexit as it relates to you and your community. In particular he is keen to discuss the impact of funding for community led local development which is at risk post-Brexit, and the importance of a rural community development strategy, policy or commitment from the UK or devolved governments moving forward.
Through this activity SRA will seek to ensure that there is a strong, coherent and collective rural community voice on the implications of Brexit as it impacts on them.
